Assissi, contnued

Like Royce said, Assisi is built en/on a hill. A really big one. But it was no sweat for me, exceot for the fact that I was wearing my Crocs. It's hard to go up a 300 foot hill in water-shoes, but I did it anyway.  Mass was good. I wasn't too sure about what the sparkly, silver preist-robe Father was in meant, but it looked really cool. During the songs, there was a voice that reverberated off the top of the small, incredibly ancient-Assisan room, but I couldn't recognize it. It wasn't Abby, nor Patricia, nor Monique. It was the wierdest thing, but it was so sweet, and clear, and pretty. After mass, it was Kodak-moment-time, and a few pictures were taken, okay, maybe a lot, and confiscated cameras were returned.
I'm just happy that the trip down was...well...downhill. There were a bunch of shops that ad caught our eye hiking to mass, and now the groups scattered and investigated those shops built into stone holes in the walls. I went to look at some fans that were really pretty, and wondering if I should get one for a friend. I didn't buy anything, mostly because I had no euros on my, because Royce has them all, and also because there was little time to. But Adam and Juan had somehow found time to get gelato, with either one 't' or two. Gelato is apparently like ice cream, except it's richer, creamier and tastes way better. Or so I heard. But I'll have to find out eventually.
But I realy want to go visit those shops again and snoop around a bit. Well, not snoop around, but poke around. I won't get into any trouble or anything, so don't worry about that, and see what there is to see. Maybe if there's something less expensive, I'll buy it as a suvenier. Anyway, it'll probably better than an empty water bottle that I got at this riddiculously-priced restaurant. OH! That and a slab of bread so hard and bland that I would rather eat a Twinkie. I told my table that, and everyone laughed. Royce winced. And laughed. Luckily, the hotel bread was WAY better.
Breakfast was awesome. They actually had Cocoa Puffs. except here they must make them with real chocolate, or something, because they were a little bitter. the yogurt was good, I had wild berry, and it was strangely tart. No yoplait there. But it was good. It just looked like I had sucked on a lemon while I was eating it. Just kidding. I tried to get myself some juice, and there were two options: pineapple and orange. I chose orange. and then I discovered that it was another infamous fruit that's made it onto my fruit-hate list. Grapefruit. The only reason I kept drinking was because I was just so thirsty. but breakfast was still good. Missed my protein shakes, though. :(
but today we get to go back to the monastary place again for a two hour tour, then it's to the shops for another two hours, before we head to Rome. I'm excited, and pray that I don't get heatstroke or sunburned.

  1. You've learned a good lesson, Marni. Hotel oj tastes like grapefruit. I have no idea how they do it, but it happens. How can one screw up oj? Glad you are having a great time! You are making some wonderful memories. Make sure that Royce gives you some of the euros in case you two get separated and then you starve to death. I miss the protein shakes too! :( And no chai... :( Love you both!
